I just picked up this van yesterday. It's in amazing shape but has some running issues. Right off the bat, it won't turn over. Key on, wts light goes out, turn key, nothing. No click, no think, nothing.
Things ive tried:
- moving the shifter to each position to see if it would start in neutral or anywhere else for that matter.
- swapped the starter relay with the blower motor relay
My biggest question is, I know the earlier trucks had a starter solenoid mounted on the fender but they did away with them in 2002. Is that the same with the van? Also, do the vans have a wire to jump the starter like the trucks do?
Solved this today and figured I'd post the solution.
Turns out the van has the same connector for the starter. its on the pass side of the engine compartment between the fuse box and blower motor down almost underneath the fuse box.
After reviewing the factory wiring diagrams and tracing almost everything from the ignition switch to the starter relay, it turned out to be a short in the fan harness. Unplugged the fan and it turned right over and fired up. found two wires in the harness had worn through the insulation. Fixed the short and all is well.
