Installing a Ford accessory keyless entry

I just bought a new 2017 Superduty 250 - The salesman said that if I purchased the Ford accessory keyless entry pad, he could install it for me. Installation was not successful. Has anyone done this? Do I have to take it to a dealer and have it installed? TIA

It's tied to your body control module that does almost all the electronics a side from running engine and core. I have a feeling that maybe the problem installing as perhaps it's not programmed or designed for it.

I can't say I have added one just learned a fair bit about the BCM over time.

The OP stated accessory keypad which should be a special model made for adding to a vehicle that did not come with it. If it is the same as previous years it gets programmed the same way an extra key would.

Pretty sure most salesmen can't install these themselves. For the 17 Super Duty it requires the use of IDS to learn the keypad to the truck, meaning you'll have to take the truck into the dealer's service department and have them install it for you. It's extremely rare for salesmen learn how to operate IDS.

They ordered a lariat key pad for me on my 2017 XL w auto start and 8inch screen wsync. There was a harness in door that keypad plugged into but said the truck would not read it. I would like this installed and was wondering if anyone has any info to get this done.?

Some salesmen are lucky to know the front from the back of the cars they sale.

See post #14 in this thread. I installed the OEM door keypad yesterday and got it working perfectly.

Yes. My truck is a XL. Took maybe hour to install. I included all info required within the posting. First thing I would recommend is doing the FORScan setting and the key routine to obtain/verify your truck's code.

According to the Ford specs the keyless entry cannot be added to a Super Duty that has the factory installed remote start...I had the same problem.

Look at bullet #3 on vehicle notes
