2001 7.3 250.. 1: is the trans supposed to get this hot? 2: does this oil gauge look right? It has a good oil level.. or is the old idiot gauge wrong 3: is the motor temp normal in this picture? I think it's the turbo that squeaks sometimes pretty bad when it is hot... any help that might fix that???
170F is the "spot" so it doesn't get much better than that (it's barely warmed up). You can run 220F all day long without a problem. I read that straight from the horse's mouth (Mark Kovalsky).
Your dash gages look like mine do so they look fine. The idiot lights are going to sit around the middle (once the truck is warmed up) and only go up if you're passing into the danger zone.
I agree with senix, we need more to go on than "I think my turbo sometime squeaks pretty bad". I recommend posting any engine related questions in the 1999-2003 7.3L forum. Lots of knowledgeable people of there that know way more than I do about our trucks.
The oil gauge stays that way through out the drive. And I'm not even sure it's the turbo that squeals when it gets hot and when I'm on the gas going up a grade. It gets gnarly if it gets real steep

Is it a squeal or more of a whistle? I bet you got a small pinhole in your one of your boots if it's a whistle that doesn't show itself unless the boost is high. Check your boots!
