I assumed max was recirculation but I see, hear, feel no difference switching to max. And to tell the truth it seems that it may actually be cooler in normal ac mode.
^^^^^ +1; pop the hood and look near the passenger side firewall. You'll see a vacuum actuator/motor/whateveryacallit; IIRC that's the one for recirc/max. And it's REAL common for that hard-ish plastic vacuum line to get brittle and break. So inspect that line.
Yep. There should be a tiny white vac line coming out of the harness next to the passenger hood hinge. Mine had rotted away a long time ago, so I took a piece of 1/8" fuel/vac line and shoved it over the old white line, and then onto the actuator. I bought a 12" piece and it was the perfect length.
