Which T5 is best behind Y block
I have been wanting to set my 292 up with a T5 but not sure which would be best, the S10 or the Mustang. I thought the Mustang needed the tailhousing changed to clear the seat of the truck but I don't remember and am having trouble finding the info. Any advise would be great, thanks.

The Mustang V8 T5's have the gear ratios you want, the S10 tailhousing puts the shifter where you want it. S10's have 4.01 1st gears, pretty short even in a 4-banger S10.
Not all Mustang T5's have the same ratios, google it and you'll find sites that tell what ratios each has based on the tag #'s.

All the 85-93 Mustang T5 will be much stronger than any S10 T5. I believe you can make the stock shifter work with a unique shift lever. Alternatively, a remote shifter shouldn't be too hard to fabricate.
The Mustang T5 should be easier to adapt to the Y-block too.
If you do go the S10 tailhousing/top-cover route, you'll need to address the speedometer location. There is someone on eBay selling a kit for this.
