Looking for a bit more power than my 5.4 can provide when towing our 5th wheel but still want a gasser. Had an '01 F250 with the 6.8 and it was ideal for what we needed. Replaced it with an '08 with the 5.4, big mistake. Anyway, looking for something with the 6.8 or 6.2 engine. Salesmen are a waste of time, they don't know anything about what they are selling. Figure to save some time if I knew what the engine code was for the 6.2 engine but can't find any info. Anyone know what the code is for a 6.2?

 

engine code is "6" 8th digit in vin number. for the 6.2L 2011 to 2017....
2011 to 2017.. had a Gas 6.2L or Diesel 6.7...

Thanks for the info. Should save some time not looking at any F250's with a 5.4

 

Any gas SD will be a 6.2 from 2011 on, no 5.4 offered just 6.2 or 6.7 diesel unless you go to a F450 then it will be a V10 gas or 6.7
