1991 E150 no spark
Hey,
I'm new to the forum and tried to search for an answer but was getting frustrated with my search results so...
I need help in diagnostic procedures:
I'm not getting spark from the plug wire to the spark plug. I'm trying to diagnose this myself as I am broke as Fu(%
I'm getting different feedback from Ford and from Autozone whether this has a distributor or electronic ignition.
It looks like the plug wires go to a distributor cap so I'm guessing it has a distributor.
If that is the case, I will check if there is spark from the coil to the coil wire
and what the rotor looks like
after that I'm at a loss.
The car overheated but not to the first overheat line. after I put water in it, it stalled. Now it cranks but won't start
I hear the fuel pump and we put in several more gallons of gas.
I'll start another thread on how to bypass the heater to fix the hose leak that began the overheating situation.
Thanks for the help and traveling blessings

Start with this Link.
Read the "No Start" topic first.......lots of info in there.
Follow thru with the "tests" and if needed the checking of the senors.
Your era van would have a distributor. Its the EEC-IV, electronic engine control, Ignition Control Module system.
Pull the distributor cap, and look inside to see if there is soot, or black smoke look inside the cap, that tells it the PIP has "smoked" out.
Also, reply back if the ICM is distributor mounted, or fender mounted.
Distributor mounts have a over heat issue, and cause mis-fire and complete shut down on the ignition.
And......post the size engine and mileage, it helps with trouble shooting.
