REAR FENDER QUESTION

'56 f100. Hello, I started working on the back of the truck. Noticed that one of the fenders was half an inch deeper than the other. That half inch might as well be a foot. It's not because of bondo. Bolt patterns are the same side to side. I measured using a ruler, inside the wheel well, pressed against the bedside, then sited down the fender.....DRIVER 11 1/4" PASSENGER 11 3/4". Which one is correct? Thanks, Matt

Which ever one works best for you. Push one in or pull the other out. I have seen quite a few that had been different over the years.

I'm not sure if a '56 is the same as '48-'52 but do you have the fender brace installed inside both fenders. Pictures?

They are both correct...it doesn't take much effort to pull a fender lip out (or push it in for that matter) a half an inch. I use 11 inches as a rule of thumb for bed-to-lip inside clearance if that helps. As Dave suggests, pull one side in or the other side out, whatever works for you.

Fender brace is used on a 1956 - see this from the LMC truck catalog part #14. Make sure that one has not been bent and that they are both the same length. The same part is used on both sides.

One side is a 1953/56 original, the other side is a 1957 FoMoCo "service part replacement."

1957: FoMoCo replaced all the original 1953/56 pickup bed parts (except the rear fender braces), with 1957 parts.

B7C-16312-A (replaced BAAA-16312-A) Right & B7C-16313-A (replaced BAAA-16313-A) Left .. Rear Fenders.

1953/79 F100/350.
----------------------
B7C-16313-B (replaced B3C-16313-B) .. Left Rear Fender with cut-out for spare tire.

1953/79 F100 & 1975/79 F150 with short pickup beds.
-------------------------------------------------------------
B7D-16313-A (replaced BBAA-16313-A) .. Left Rear Fender with cut-out for spare tire.

1953/79 F250; 1956/79 F100 & 1975/79 F150 with 8' beds.

Note: The rear fender braces (1953/56: BAAA-16340-A) ... (1957/79: B7C-16340-A) are specific to either the original or the 1957 replacement fenders.

Thanks for the information. Anyone have any good information about how to make a consistent half inch bend in........ or half inch bend out?

What is the difference between the long bed rear fender and the short bed rear fender, each with the cutout? Is the cutout deeper/shallower or what?
