The red indicator light has always lit up and then gone out after I fastened the seat belt (or several seconds, I don't remember which) but for about 4 days it's staying on all the time while the engine is running.
The wire runs down along where the foot switch is for your high beams. If I remember correctly, there is a place to disconnect there as well. The wires run down under the floor covering to the bench seat.
I think the circuit works by being closed when the seat belt has not been buckled. I removed the wire after the connector to clean out the floor of my cab and haven't had a seat belt light come on, so you should be fine to just disconnect the switch completely.
Back trace it from the dvrs side seat belt wiring (behind the seat) then under the carpet and diagonally across the floor pan towards the dimmer switch.
Yes ck your buzzer behind the dash?
I understand it that is should come on during initial start up and then run a "self test" and go out or when you fasten the seat belt it goes out.
My drivers seatbelt switch was disconnected by a previous owner on both my pickups. I haven't hooked them back up. They do still shut off after a few seconds. Every once in awhile the seatbelt buzzer goes off when I key on the F150. It happens so sporadically that I haven't worried about unhooking it.
