Anyone experiencing or experienced controls, switches, map lights, sunroof, rear window slider, upfitter switches, sunroof shade, etc. not working.
the controls/switches are not even illuminated.. they flat out just don't work.
this is on a 17' F250 Platinum CC 6.7
i took delivery Thursday afternoon and hadn't used it messed with the controls stated above yet. Until I went to dinner with my wife and wanted to show her the panoramic sunroof... not a good look when she was in favor of the GMC
Some folks have had leaks through the cab clearance lamps and / or panoramic moonroof. If water came in, it could have likely shorted out the circuit board that controls these switches.
I'd certainly take it to the dealer. It is disappointing on a new truck, but I'm sure the dealer will fix it properly and it won't happen again.
No brand is immune to problems. A new GMC, RAM, or whatever brand you choose could have similar problems.
Used to as part of the new vehicle prep process the tech would check out all the basic systems on the truck. I guess they don't do that anymore. When I picked up my new 2017 Super Duty Platinum FX4 all four (4) tires were under inflated by about 10 to 15 p.s.i. I didn't get 3 blocks from the deal before the TPMS indicator came on.

I have my dealer the gears over this so called prep as they did not see two paint defects. I was told in actuality all they do is remove the protection stickers and film. Program the system and off it goes. They do not inspect the whole truck.
I work in construction so have always owned trucks and am surrounded by many people who own trucks. No manufacturer is immune from defects. Any mass produced product is going to be susceptible to human and/or mechanical errors. Given the sheer quantity of vehicles produced every day in this country, the defect ratio is staggeringly small. We all have opinions but you could not give me a GM vehicle to drive as the one GM truck I have owned had more warranty issues than all other vehicles I have ever owned, combined. Nearly everyone I know who has purchased a late model Silverado or Sierra has had QC or warranty issues. As others have said, take it to the dealer. Could be as simple as an electrical connection not being made at the factory...sure it happens from time to time.

Every manufacturer requires every dealer to perform a Pre-delivery Inspection (PDI). This inspection includes a long list of things to check for. It would include going over the body to look for paint defects, any dings or scratches, etc. It would include checking for interior leaks, checking for any leaking fluids, making sure all fluids (coolant, oil, trans fluid, brake fluid, washer fluid) are topped up correctly. It would make sure the tires were inflated to the correct pressures. It would include checking the function of the radio, nav, heat, A/C, all power windows, door locks, mirrors, all exterior and interior lighting, etc. And it includes filling the fuel tank, since that is included in the window sticker price.
Unfortunately, most dealers are very sloppy. Many simply fill the fuel tank. Some savvy dealers know you can actually make the fuel gauge read "full" without actually filling the tank...saving them a few bucks per delivery. For example, my 2017 with the 48 gallon tank was certainly not full. Very few dealers perform the entire PDI. Some do a very basic check. Others do essentially nothing.
Interestingly, the factory still makes glaring mistakes from time to time. I saw a very interesting truck at a local dealer in VT last weekend. It was a Race Red Super Duty, XL trim, 4x4...clearly with a gas engine: Flex Fuel badge on the tailgate, single exhaust pipe, and looking in through the fender you could see the long diesel oil filter was not there. Yet interestingly enough, the truck had perfectly fitted 6.7L Powerstroke badges on both front doors. I just laughed. It was brand new, but the dealer had pulled it off to the back of the dealer, lol.

I have a friend (I know, "I have a friend"...) who's motor mounts were not torqued down. He was crawling under his new truck back in 2012 and noticed the bolts only started on their threads. He took it to the dealer and they torqued them down but didn't believe his story.

Got mine five gallons low in Diesel, one gallon low on DEF. Saving that $15 bucks helped insure that I won't repeat purchase with them.

Same thing happened when I took delivery! I caught it before I left the dealer. The salesman was pissed!
This is the first special order truck I've done. What is the general view point of most dealers when a buyer performs a complete check of the vehicle right on the lot before they leave? And insists that all noted issues are corrected first?
I've bought new vehicles off the lot before and I've even had salesman get upset with me for crawling under the truck and poking my head under the hood and dash.... I will give myself several hours when picking up a new vehicle, just to look it over and have deficiencies corrected before I leave with it.
My last dealership I had been with for many years and I worked with the same salesman every time. He knew what I expected and would inspect the car or truck himself and send it back for additional work. He earned my business because he was truthful and I trusted him. Unfortunately the dealership has changed hands and the salesman I trusted has retired. I'm only hoping that I can find a salesman and service manager I can establish the same level of trust.
Its a valid point you make, but most customers will let it slide, especially if they get along well with the salesperson who sold them the truck.
My salesman was gone three days later. I think it's just the nature of this dealership. It seems to be common in the big city dealerships that I've dealt with over 30 years.

Good post. I have now adopted this mind set after having so many problems with my first 17 SD. As soon as you drive away your pretty much stuck with it and or waiting until its gets fixed in some half car half moeped type loaner.
I took delivery of my 17 ccsb350 lariat after noticing no interior lights, was late in day, techs had gone home,thought it was just a fuse or something, took it back following day, they had it for four days before finding pinched wire in harness under passenger side door jam. As I posted then, check EVERYTHING before taking delivery of a new vehicle, if EVERYTHING aint right, dont take delivery.
