So I went to the wreckers yesterday and theres a 76 highboy there waiting to get crushed. It has white spoke jackmans on it. Yes they are jackmans. But they are 16.5s. They looked to be 10" wide. I,m just thinking of grabbing them. I don,t need them for my truck, but I love the look of those wheels. Problem is availability of rubber for them. Any suggestions. I'm thinking 37" to 38". Thanks
FYI I do not think those are Jackmans rims, do you see a J stamped in them? And I believe jackmans are hub centric and not lug centric. So get the correct lug nuts for them.
Military takeoffs bias ply Good Year Wrangler MT II 36x12.50x16.5 or Good Year Wrangler MT II radial or Baja TA 37x12.50x16.5's are about the only cheap way to get tires in 16.5.
ubreal2 ordered his 5 lug 16.5 rims from Summit racing, because we all know that 16.5 rims are normally 8 lug. 8 on 6 1/2 to be exact.
Big Spicer hubs yes, I bet its a low pinion D44 and closed knuckle. 1976 they went to a D44 6CF and open knuckle. Big hubs is not always a sign of a D60.
Like others said, those are NOT Jackman's from the looks of them. I love Jackmans and have a set if BFG ever decides to make another run of 35x12.50s which they seem to do every few years in 16.5.

Exactly the reason I went to 17s last time I bought wheels and tires. Granted, they're not "period correct", but they look pretty good on the yellow truck
I'm currently driving one that looks way, way worse. And it's my favorite. Scrapyards may sometimes think that they're gold as far as selling a complete rig, but if it's honestly getting crushed, that's a travesty, lots of parts there. Does Canada have some certain laws regarding older vehicles? I often see loads of crushed cars roll by on the interstate coming down I-15 out of Alberta, and they always look a little strange - last one I was behind, for instance, had a crushed bullnose in the middle of the stack, smashed obviously, but a complete grille, and still had both hubcaps on the side that I saw - seemed awfully complete and nice to be a crusher, most of the local yards here only crush the ones that have been completely picked over, and even then they pull a few parts off and throw them in the back of another like-model vehicle.
But seriously, that looks like a D60 front axle - get that and make yourself some beer money!
I've got the identical rims on my truck. I love the way they look but the tire selection in 16.5's suck. Some tiny michelins or used Hummer tires. I went with 37 12.50-16.5s but I think my ideal tire size would be a 35. Couldn't argue with the price on the Hummer tires though.......
