I was quite happy when I got the blue truck and it had 16.5's with brand new 35x12.50x16.5's BGF AT's. And then I found another set of the same tires that were slightly used, for 30 each. SCORE. I'm still running the 1st set...
Not jackmans, factory d44 hubs, 16.5's in military radials are 200 ea. in US and weigh a ton killing deceleration , steering response, and acceleration.
Probably a dana 44HD axle BUT it could be LP dana 60...? Anyways, grab those lockouts, those are the ford factory original spicer's. Cleaned up, they bring $200-400 on evilbay!
I guess "desirable" is eye of the beholder - if it is actually a 60. I didn't realize they used the big lockouts on the old 8-lug 44's. I'd think any 60 is better than any 44, and even 44's aren't exactly cheap and easy anymore (once the bullnose guys figured out they could de-Ibeam their 250's with them )
Appreciate the google homework. However for me, there is no value in military surplus tires.
The penalties outweigh the slightly cheaper price.
BTW - the extra hp and brake upgrades needed to get the same performance for your truck with military surplus vs buying a nice modern street truck tire cost WAY more than the difference in tire price.
