All I can remember is the push button automatic in the Corvair. I friend had one in his "Deathmobile" and it worked, I guess. Are you looking for something to adapt or a kit, ready to bolt in?
Wasn't the Mop*r 727 torqueflight a push button? Then in 58 or 59 edsel had one that was in the horn button area of the steering wheel. You might try Art Carr for more info. -4speed
Mr4speedford, I think you’re correct. I’ve seen a 63~64? Dart with a push button automatic.
Learpilot, I might still have a Mop*r parts catalog that I believe had something about the buttons… If you want or need it, I can try to scan it for you.
Now Bill, don't you two get to yakkin' about pointy-nose jets and stuff. Unless, of course, they are Ford products. Tell you what, just tack a front bumper from a 53 on the pointy end and we'll tell Kenny it's a Ford jet. Then you can talk about it all you want.
Learpilot;
If you're looking for something to adapt, early 60's Valiants, Darts, Lancers had push button trannies for sure......I had some of them; and they worked great. They also had push button heater controls, vacuum operated, and they worked well also. I believe that the full size Chry...s 1960-1962 had them too.
To add my limited knowledge, Ford used one in their Mercurys in 57.
Yeah, and '58. That Merc Keyboard looks pretty cool. A big 'DRIVE' bar over smaller 'brake release','neutral start', 'hill control', 'reverse'??.
Anybody know what tranny a Merc-o-matic is? Is it the same tranny Edsel used with the keyboard in the middle of the wheel? Funny but the Edsel keys are labeled like a normal tranny; 'P' 'R' 'N' 'Dr' 'Lo' (If I can make out this picture).
Anybody know how reliable the keyboard shift works?
Thanks,
Brett
