Hey all,
Its undercoating time(hopefully). Couple questions for you. First, when I undo the sheetmetal screws holding the rubber lipped chrome fender lining, will it easily come off? Also, will it reinstall the same, or will I have to do something special (I'd rather ask first than find out later). Second, how do I go about removing the plastic inner feders? I want to go up the insides of the fenders with the Herculiner. Again, how easy is it to reinstall them? Lastly, do you guys recommend I tape off the leaf spring hanger assemblies (where they bolt to the frame) or can I just herculine right over them without worries? Oops, one more question I guess, does anyone know if Herculiner can be sealed to be used later (say if I do tape off certain things, then go back to coat them individually)? Thanks for reading the long list. Hope to hear from you guys.
everything you take off if you are care full it should go right back on in its respectful space, and you dont have to worrie about removing the spring hangers unless you want to get undercoating under them (then itll just squeez out) good luck and have fun
I had pulled it all off before anyone responded. It all came off easy enough. I had a real good body to start with, not a speck of rust on her. I coated the body only, not the frame. I will let someone else do that. I will upload some pics later. This is a job that seriously would be a thousand times easier if I had access to a lift. I will NEVER undercoat anything ever again. Its in my hair, on my arms, on my face, in my eyes. Thankfully, not the hootus. I only gave it one coat. The box recommends two coats, but I could care less. I was ready to set fire to the bronco and call the insurance salesmen. I threw the tires back on it. I will reattach the inner plastic fenders and chrome lip trim tomorrow.
