1984 EGR tube Attention NumberDummy

I rebuilt my 300 CI inline six, runs great!!!!

I managed to take off my old EGR tube from the motor before rebuilding. I cleaned it up and want to reinstall it but I have a problem I hope some one can help me with....

I had to hack saw the nut that was attached to the tube fitting and inside the exhaust manifold. I saved the fitting and the threads are usable. My issue is I can not find the nut/adapter that connects the tube to the exhaust manifold. the tube is a off size the OD measures at 13/16 and the flair tube fitting thread measures at 1.15. I can not find any NPT/37 deg flair tube adapter to fit. what size is it? DOES any one know? the ford dealership told me this is a discontinued item for 1984 GRRRRRR......

Help?????

I would try looking at pipe thread fittings. It does not look like pipe thread in the picture, but it may be. Take it to local hardware store and ask them. Otherwise a junk yard, but not easy to find that stuff or get them off of an old truck anymore.

See if the part is shown on the 4.9L Six tab here: Manifolds, EGR, Heat Valves, etc - ???Gary's Garagemahal. If so, then Bill or I can look up the whole of the part number to see if it is available.

Conduit fittings are straight pipe thread. Pipe fittings are tapered because they make the seal on the threads. Your pipe has a flare fitting, so the flare is where the seal is made, the threads are just a "nut" to hold the flare together.

All that being said, if you could find a 3/4 brass fitting and drill it out, it may be soft enough to work. Something like this;

Gmaan is yours like this?

If you look at the EFI manifold picture I think part 9J470 is the same as used on the carb motors. But like you I am not seeing the tube or the 2 fittings in the carb picture of what you need.

The EGR tube comes with fittings on both ends that thread into this ^ connector.

Usually the tube has to be cut off, because when you attempt to remove it, it twists and splits open, as its fittings are rusted solid to these connectors.

Here is the tube followed by the connector.
