Had the engine rebuilt, installed within a few miles I am getting P1136 code. Engine performance is outstanding, good fuel mileage. Waited to install new CPS hoping to solve problem.
NO go.
From research I believe I need to check alignment of CPS.
I will also clean and check connections.
Other reasonable guidance.....I do have Forscan but little or no experience using it.
P1336 FORD - Crankshaft Position Or Camshaft Position Sensor Input Signal Error
Possible causes
Faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor
Faulty Camshaft Position Sensor
Crankshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
Crankshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
Camshaft Position Sensor harness is open or shorted
Camshaft Position Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
My code decipher says the P1136 could be crank, or cam sensor concerns. Since it's a 3.0L & they have a history of lube problems of the cam sensor assy, has it been squeaky lately, kinda like the sound of a cricket?
I am getting confusing information on the test of the Camshaft Position Sensor by testing Ohms, what I believe is the sensor itself should test below 5 ohms?
OK may need to start new thread, but I will try here first. I believe the cam synchro may be off. Remember this engine was rebuilt and I have always been getting a P1336 code.
I have the engine on TDC 1, I cannot install the alignment tool. I have pulled the synchro.
1. The instructions I have said to put #1 at 10 degrees past TDC, HOW do I do that?
2. What do I align the synchro with when I drop it in, because I do not have previous markings...........
Have a look in this multi-page thread from our "Tech Info" thread, on how others aligned their sync assy, both with & without the alignment tool & let us know how it goes. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...placement.html
Just looked again no marks on the OD of the crankshaft hub.......
I did find where the engine builder marked in between to of the teeth with a white paint marking, but those teeth are two teeth from the TDC, which may be 10 degrees but I need to confirm some how
Look in your Haynes repair manual for some good pictorials on how to assure TDC & the 3.0L sync alignment angle. If you don't have a Haynes, call your local library, bet they have one.
EDIT: If your of a mind to use the alignment tool, many auto parts stores have one to rent in their "Loan-A-Tool program, for a up front refundable deposit.
