Hi. We have a 2015 F150 5.0 4x4 xlt. When in colorado last summer i noticed when going up a steep mountain when the truck would start to slow down and I would press gently on the accelerator to maintain speed there would be a brief slipping noise coming from the rear end somewhere. It scared the bajeebies out of me. I was towing a 4500 pound camper using tow-haul. When we got home Ford could find nothing wrong with the truck. Today I pulled the camper to the shop to have some work and the same thing happened. Flat Florida road doing 25 miles per hour. I slowed down for a car turning in front of me and then when i accelerated it happened. Any advice? Three old ladies leaving for colorado again soon. thanks for your help.
Welcome to FTE. What is the tachometer doing while you are hearing the "slipping noise?"
How many miles on the truck. Secondary to that, has the transmission been serviced? Any CELs?
Thanks Ray. The truck has about 22,000 miles on it. I have had all of the Ford recommended services done. Haven't noticed what the tachometer does it happens so quickly. When I get the camper out of the shop I am going to pull it up and down the road and check that out. What is a CEL? My service advisor at the Ford shop ( I told them about this problem previously)says they put it on the diagnostic computer and no codes showed up.
