Yes, I'm asking for part number help. Or, at least a picture. Let me explain.
I got the auxiliary battery tray mounted on Big Blue today, and then mounted the coolant recovery reservoir to it, as shown below. But, that leaves the reservoir sorta hanging in the breeze, with a bolt on one end and the pin in the middle. Just seems like it needs something where the red arrow is.
So, I went to the parts catalog and looked closely at this page that shows how things mount. And, in the red rectangle you can just barely see something that might be what I'm talking about.
Here's a closeup on that part, blown up to 800%. Does anyone have one in order to look for a number on it? Or, at least get a picture of it? I can probably make something, but want to make it somewhat like the original if possible. Thanks!
Thanks, but I've looked at all of those illustrations, and there are many as Ford had several different reservoirs. But none seem to have anything that looks like what I need.
Usually @ the end of a MPC TEXT Basic PN application, there will be usually listed ATTACHING PARTS, i.e hardware and the like. Anything after any of the Basic PN's 8A080 - 17618 - 16138?
EDIT -
There is also an Alphabetical Parts Listing @ the front of the TEXT Catalog. Maybe you will get lucky.
Gary, when I get a chance I will check my diesel. The only problem is, I'm pretty sure the 6.9 trucks came with a separate washer fluid tank and a much larger coolant expansion reservoir. I don't recall how they were mounted, or if it might share any of the hardware shown in you picture but I will check.
Cant help on the part but in your first picture the bolt going thru the container to the brace should go the other way as not to dig into the batt.
Dave ----
I think I've found it, with your help. Unfortunately it appears to be no-longer available. But, now I think I know what it should be. I think, because there is no illustration in the catalog for that part on an 1980-86 F-series truck.

Absolutely right, and I knew someone would point that out. I meant to say it was just put in temp, and had to go in that way for the moment to use the large washer of the bolt as the plastic tab is broken on the reservoir and it takes a big washer to capture it. But, I'll turn it around and put a large washer on the backside under the nut.

Jonathan - The diesels mount quite differently. But thanks anyway.

Are you talking to me... ?
Anyways, how did you finally come across it? I need to know.
Dealers need qualified parts salesmen you know...
I think you are like me (well I hope not as I am CDO- correct alphabetical order), it has to have an OEM appearance.
Yep, talking to you. I took your advice and looked at the illustrations on the coolant reservoir. In those the brackets are usually "17651". I have my catalog OCR'd so I searched for 17651 in the Text section and there it was. Then I went to the Illustration section and searched for every use of "17651". None of them were for the 1980-86 F-Series gassers with an auxiliary battery, which is why I can say that there is no illustration depicting the part I need.

What's OCR? I am an old guy and not familiar with much new tech.
Optical Character Recognition. The MPC is available from two sources - HiPo Parts and Forel Publishing. The one from HiPo is a collection of 5000+ pictures of the pages. But you cannot search a picture as the info on it is not text, just dots. However, I ran my copy through an OCR program which recognized the dots and turned them into text. So, I can search mine.
The one from Forel is the same but it has already been run through an OCR program. Unfortunately the OCR program didn't do a good job and in my testing I could only find about 1/4 of the stuff in it as I can in my HiPo version.

I imagine this is on CD? So in essence, what you are saying is that the Forel product is not 100% view-able?
