Does anyone have air horns on their truck? It's more of a novelty so to speak mounting air horns on a truck but I have seen a few of them. I've always been particularly fond of the sound of Nathan Airchime K5LA that can be found on train engines. You think you could get someones attention with these babies? Some are mounted under the truck or in the bed.
Living in a suburb of Atlanta, I would love to have airhorns. However, it is almost daily news about someone here getting shot at in road rage incidents. I don't see how they would really improve my odds of staying clear of that.
Best use:
When some inattentive ditz strolls into a crosswalk staring down at their phone - right in front of you as YOUR light turns green. A good blast will not only get them to refocus, but it'll probably make them drop their $800 phone to the pavement...
Some years back, a guy did that (and not even with a phone, just strolling). Blew the horn as he was in front of me. He actually had the nerve to shoot me a dirty look until he noticed I was pointing at something... my green light. He gave a quick "My bad" and sprinted back to the curb.

I do have Shocker air horns on my F450. Anyone who tows a large 5th wheel knows their are "idiots" who feel they have to pull in front of you. The air horns kind of keep them at bay. I also like having a 200 psi air system on board.
Technically, I don't drive for a living but effectively, I'm driving almost 40 hrs/week with gear in tow. Air horns are a safety item for medium to high gvw combination vehicles whether it's a freightliner or a medium duty pickup. (Yeah, it's just my opinion)
I have a shocker horn setup I bought in 2011 and it still works great, just ran in a July 4 parade yesterday and blew them for an hour.
As someone posted above They really "re-focus" mindless drivers that wander themselves into a danger zone. Used responsibly the people that get blasted usually appreciate the gesture. It's like they look at me and the expression is "dang, I didn't know you were there and you might have saved my life".
Of course, just like anything else, use at your own risk in Walmart parking lots....
Some people kind of loses touch with reality and get a bit distracted while driving and even walking. Air horns have a tendency to shock them back to the real world.
Do you suppose an air horn would have saved this woman, or just made it worse?
I don't know enough to be able to say one way or another but I think the world would be more "aware" without Facebook.
She is probably suing Facebook for entrapment or something....
Before she even starts looking at her cell phone it's hard to imagine that she can't see the open doors directly in front of her. If I didn't know better it appears as though she saw the open doors as a liability opportunity.
