65 door pocket trim
I have a 65 f100 Custom with door pockets. About 6" section of the trim/plastic retainer broke off. Checked salvage yards and catalog outlets and unable to locate replacement. If anyone has any suggestions or recommend any plastic repair kit, it would be helpful. Not sure type of plastic material retainer is made of. The only markings on underside is the part #, and the letter 'C' .There are also few stress cracks that will need attention. Not sure if any glue would work. Thought I would check with 'forum think tank' before tackling the project. As parts become unobtainable one proceeds with caution.
65 f100 stepside short bed. (near completion-self restoration added p/s and disc brakes).
65 f100 L/B custom.
thanx

I will continue to search for replacement. I would like to do what you have done wk 65 , but it sound extremely costly. I will post if I find anything reasonable.
I am new to this email protocol or I would use these message icon's, and smiley faces. I will keep it simple.
Thanx again

Wood, done nicely also looks great, altho' it's custom, not OEM. We did that because NOS & Quality re-pop is either non existent or priced out of reach. That particular "client" keeps looking for replacements, like map pocket plastic. He says it's either rotted, brittle, junk, or gone. . . . . FBp
what is OEM? NOS?
I am assuming that is "Original something something"?
what is the value difference between the two? I mean, why wouldn't i choose custom over OEM?
Trending Topics
OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer ( came from factory with) In "Henry"s' case it's either "FoMoCo" built or contractor/ supplier built.
FoMoCo manufactures 9" rear axle assy's , but contract-purchase Danas from Dana Spicer. Both axle assy's are considered OEM because FoMoCo manufactured trucks they come in.
NOS = New Old Stock,
IOW (in other words) Stock/Parts Used to build trucks, once were available at Ford dealers Parts Departments, but became unavailable due to Fords' 200/units per Annum rule.
Bean counters determined if sales of a specific part drops below 200 units per year, it's not worth carrying or stocking any more. Such parts get ODS [Obsolete/Discontinued Status] at that point, FoMoCo warehouses/ dist ctrs & dealerships dump / sell off, what they have left in stock, of that part# to highest bidder.
As result new parts, "old stock" by ODS standards, get bought & made available in "niche" markets, vehicle/year/ make specific dealer & specialty house. Carolina Classics is an example, as are Obsolete Ford Parts, Auto Body Spclties, or Mustangs Unlimited, etc. etc. etc.
NOS parts, w/ possible exception of sheet metal/ body parts or major components like Crate Engines, complete assemblies, rear axles, etc. should be in original box/ packaging, enevlopes etc. If not there is little reason to believe they're NOS. Big Items req' a better knowledge to discover bootlegs & "re-pops". Some are pretty good but no reproduction = NOS in quality, originality or $$.
Some companies reproduce parts by replicating originals under authority of license by FoMoCo, Dennis Carpenter Reproductions is a great example of legitimate replications, there are others too.
licensed replication/ reproduction must comply w/ FoMoCo spec's & standards of original part they replace.
Some companies plageurize FoMoCo, copy old parts worth "big $$" and charge what licensed replicators charge, or more. As a rule, "bootleggers" don't make very good reproductions, but they charge good money for them. Some even copy packaging, depending on what part it is. This hurts legit replicators & buying public too. . . .a Rip Off is a Rip Off is a Rip Off
Some firms make "Custom Parts" to replace & look different than original, [Rod Doors is one] but fit, work & look better than OEM.
We can select replacement parts from 5 categories, they are: NOS, OEM[used] Aftermarket reproduction/ replacement or our own custom fabrication.
I guess it's really 6 categories, I forgot Rip Offs!
