Engine Swap but the new engine ticks
About 2 months ago my 87 F 150 blew its motor. I left it sit at my grand fathers farm till i got money to rebuild or swap a engine. I found that the block was cracked so i got a new engine. I went to a junk yard and found a 88 4.9 L inline six for $250.00 which seems like a good price. It has 96,000 miles on it, Im not sure if i should buy the engine or not because the engine has a ticking sound. Im not sure if it a Push Rod or Rocker arm or what. The guy there said it was probably the ERG vavle or something like that. The engine runs smoothly and does not seem to be losing power. Its just that ticking sounds serious.
