Just wanted to wish all a happy safe 4th of July. Remember the veterans that made this celebration happen. Our local church graveyard has six veterans of this war buried in it. Each has a brass plaque with their names and dates on them. Various holidays are celebrated by putting American flags at each grave of a military vet. These six get larger flags for the 4th celebration. Kind of cool to see all of them. The church was founded before the constitution was ratified. Have fun be safe

 

Back at ya Dave. From a Veteran that has missed too many 4ths, and other holidays, with my family. It's nice to be retired and home with them.

 

Be safe! Fireworks are a lot of fun, but for the first time in about 80 years, fireworks are legal in the state of Iowa. The cork sniffers and usual suspects are all a twitter about the noise.

Right now though there is probably at least one person who doesn't realize this is the last weekend of their life where they'll have all their fingers.

BJ thanks for protecting the homeland. Career guys don't get enough credit for all of the holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other special occasions they miss by serving away from home. So thank you. Hope you enjoy the whole weekend. Dave & Bobbi and all the critters

I am in Cedar Falls at UNI...there are kids lighting off fireworks in the parking lot. This will get interesting as the day progresses...

Aaaand, it turns out unfortunately those predictions are correct. A Sioux City, Iowa man lost a hand last night in a fireworks mishap, according to the Fire Chief.

"Place On Ground. Light Fuse. Get Away." <------ !!!
