Are these worth a crap? I'm trying to find potential storage solutions for underneath my Bakflip MX4. Need to store, my trailering stuff... HD Bottle Jack, Grease Gun, Tire Iron, etc.
Right now I've got a milk crate with all my crap in it that I cargo strap to the bed cleats.. Pain in the butt.
I keep looking at those too, but they block the bedlights, and the bed cleats..
So as of now, I'm still stuck with my 3 small commander totes held between 2 cargo bars. Which I then have to unload each time I want to throw the kayaks in the bed, or anything else. Keep looking at some of the sidemount toolboxes that sit below the rail so that it will clear my peragon cover. They don't tend to look like they have much useful space though...
Unless you just want the Ford logo, you can get em cheaper than that.
Oh yeah, I'm aware. These are just rebranded Undercover boxes.

Yeah, that's the same beef I have with them... the search continues..
I like mine. I emptied my milk crate and still had some room left. The bed lights were not an issue for me because I transferred the lights from my F150.
I have had both Under Cover and the Ford branded and they appear to be made by the same manufacturer.
I like mine very much as it is a very convenient way to access whatever one chooses to store in there.
Two ways to secure it, one top lid lock with supplied key and a cleat to lock the box to the truck when in the retracted position using your own lock. The plastic is rather flimsy and it would be easy to simply pry the lid open by hand so further securing it under a cover is a good idea.
I am able to use the tie down directly behind the swing box even with the box in the closed position if the item I am securing sits nearly cab high. The swing box is very easy to remove (just swing and lift) if further access to the tie downs is needed.
duckduke - that's the one I keep looking at.. but it doesn't seem like there is really all that much space inside..outside is only 9x9.. if they offered a metal version that made more of the 9x9 useable, it may be the ticket.

Does this box impede past the wheel well? In other words does it stick out further into the bed than the wheel well does?
What happened to all the old "porkchop" side boxes? Need those again, but lower overall height to work under a cover. There used to be full-length side boxes that enclosed the space both forward and aft of the fenderwell and maintained the 48" wide space between a pair of them (double-end porkchop boxes). Manufacturers probably had a fit trying to fit (pun intended) most pickup models and bed lengths.

Man would a set of those be nice.. might even be worth going to the local aluminum guy and having him build a set.
