Thoughts on my decision.

okay so I've spoken to the guy who is going to do my lift and I know a lot of people do 6inch lifts.

my gmc 1500 is a 6inch lift. I knew the f250 6inch is higher I kept going over and over about this in my head and spoke with the installer and he told me in his honest opinion if I like the height of my gmc then the 4.5 inch lift kit would be my best choice paired with 37s

he said it's up to me but he mentioned that he put a 6 inch kit on a 16 and next to a 17 with a 6 inch kit he said it's like 3 inches taller.

So I found one on a lot and we over to it and gauged where the steps would be at and kept looking at my trucks steps and the f250s. In order to get into the f250 I would have to climb into it and lift myself up a lot higher which I am able to do but I just thought about as an over and over process would I like to do that.

I can reach each into the bed on my gmc with the 6inch with the f250 as a 6inch I have to stand on my tip toes. I am 6'1"

this post kinda seems more as a rant but I just wanted to see what others thought and if anyone in my same situation ended up going with a 4.5 lift and not the 6. I hope I won't regret it so that's why I'm asking you folks what you think?

i have not seen a 4inch in person btw

ps Tricon if you read this, if I go with the 4.5 lift I'm getting the 2.5 fox coilover resis

4" on these trucks should be PLENTY. Going with 6" won't get you anything in terms of larger tires but it will make it even more difficult accessing the bed contents. There's always AMP Research's Bed Steps to get you there

You must have very long arms. I'm 6' tall and can't do that with my stock F-250.

I had a 13 Toyota Tundra with 6" lift. The lift made the truck very impractical to drive in the city, turning radius was diminished and parking was a chore also any parking garages were off limits. I had the readylift 2.5" level kit installed on my 17 F250 platinum and can't be more happy. I couldn't imagine going higher. I would highly recommend finding a 17 F250 with a 4" or 6" kit and driving it before you commit.

Personally I think the 4.5 will work out perfect. You did good! As you know these trucks are tall already and the 4.5" lift will be taller than your previous GMC with the 6" lift. I personally put a 2.5" level on mine but i may switch to a 4.5" lift later down the road. It gives me something to look forward to in a few years.

i hope I did make a good decision. Have you seen one with a 4.5 next to a 1500 6inch?

As as long as it sits as high or a little higher I'm fine - don't get me wrong climbing into my bed now isn't easy but it's manageable and I like it. I just am the type of person who worries if I won't like something.

Im going to be running 37 inch tires and I have found a couple pics on instagram of trucks with 4.5 lift tell me what you think please

This is the only one with 35" tires. But it's also color matched to how mine will be even the same rims! Haha
