I have searched and read for hours and wondering if anyone has come up with a favorable solution for older model trucks for a tailgate step. Short of replacing the tailgate I cannot find anything that is real convincing without asking some others that may have experience with such which option they chose. I am convinced that it is time for my aging body to get some help getting up and into my truck bed but I had hoped to find something that would be satisfactory without replacing the tailgate.
I was not aware that summit racing had one. I will continue the research. Have seen a lot of different options but was wondering if I was missing something on what most were choosing if they don't get a different tailgate thanks for all input
We offer many different bed step options that'd work great for you. Some are universal that would mount in the receiver tube. A few would work with the tailgate open or closed.
Some would permanently mount to inside of the tailgate and can be folded down with the tailgate open.
My favorite option is the # B75303 from BesTop. This is a vehicle specific option that mounts under the bumper using existing holes. It stays out of the way until needed, a flip of the foot will deploy the step. This option fits 1999-current F250, 350 and 450 models.
