Smile F700 vin decode

Hi,
I got two 1964 trucks recently, one to restore and one for parts, but as i look at the parts truck i think it could make a great farm truck up here. If you could help me figure out the vin, especially the axle ratio, i would appreciate it.

Don't tread on me. I think this thing could roll over quite a bit, especially if i can do a 4x4 conversion on it with a dana 60.

Why do they look great on trailers? Strap over hood is because the hood hardware is gone.

4x4 or ratrod?

I think a set of rear tracks and a snow plow considering where you live. Cool old Truck!

I asked a moderator to move this thread to the Large Truck forum, most members of this forum (1961/66) have F100/250 pickups.

I like the look of the truck. However if you do you convert to 4 x 4 a Dana 60 front end I think would be too light. You may wish to find a military 2 ton axle.

The pic of the Warranty Plate does not appear when the post is quoted, so I had to type the info.

The Warranty Plate also has errors, there's no COLOR code, but there should be.

The TRANS code L (it was stamped too far to the left) may be correct, or it could be the COLOR code, which means no TRANS code was stamped (see if the decode matches the trans).

The AXLE code has been miss-stamped. 75 was stamped below TRANS .. E is in the correct position, but there's no such thing as a single letter AXLE code.

Warranty Number: F70MU472187 / WB: 194 / COLOR: L / MODEL: F700 / BODY: 681A / TRANS: L / AXLE: 75E / MAX GVW LBS: 22000 / CERT NET HP: 160 / RPM: 3800 / DSO: 74
F70 = F700 (gas).

M = 330 2V H/D FT engine.

U = Louisville KY Assembly Plant.

474187 = 1964.

194" Wheelbase.

L = Holly (Dark) Green.

F700 (gas), 22,000 lbs. GVWR

681A: 6 = Black all Vinyl / 81A = Standard Cab.

L = Clark model 2651-V1 or 2653-V1 5 Speed Direct.

75E:

75 = Eaton model 1614 or 1615 Single Speed Rear Axle / 7.17-1 / 17,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

E = Ford 5,500 lbs. Capacity Front Axle or Rockwell-Timken model FC-901 7,000 lbs. Capacity Front Axle.

22,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

160 net HP @ 3,800 RPM

74 = Seattle WA Ford District Sales Office, where thew original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

Do you raise livestock at your farm in Palmer? Or do you grow something?

The reason I ask is, I've been to Palmer...to a farm that raises livestock, musk oxen as I recall.

I do not, I work for the Uncle Sam (US ARMY). But I have been to the Musk Ox Farm many times. In the fall they have a 'Run with the Bulls' 5/10K I like to do. Nothing like running in knee high tall grass, rolling hills, and bull excrement to keep you going and remind you of childhood.

My friend has 120 acres, though, and I thought it would be cool to get it running, put a flat bed on it, maybe a plow, and use it on his land. Maybe in trade for the work I'm going to do on my 64 4x4 in his shop.

I wish my 700 had 10 bolt wheels rather than 6. Then could put on 22.5s. 900-20s scarce as hens teeth.

I don't understand everything you posted, but a friend said those were two part rims, and a time bomb waiting to explode.

But thr hubs and axles are in good condition. I'm hoping to not put much money into it, so any advice on how not to spend money but keep it running and rolling is appreciated.
