2002 4.0L Idle
I have a 2002 4.0L 4x4 207k. The idle will now occasionally will fluctuate from `800 rpm to 500rpm at idle while in drive. The fuel filter has just been replaced, could it be a sensor, spark plug, mass airflow sensor, air filter, or spark plug wire issue?

Have you scanned it ??? Is check engine light coming on ???? Could be your Idle Air Sensor in the air intake tube between the MAF and the throttle body. Autozone will scan it with a code reader for free. Or you could buy a ELM scantool and run a free program called forscan on your laptop,,,think they have a smart phone app also.Post codes here and someone will point you in the right direction.

No check engine light on, but there could be still codes. The truck is now up at a local mechanic, I will mention the air intake tube sensor if I get a chance. If that sensor is bad, would it throw a code?
