I'm having the same problem with my 98 Ranger. It seems to have worsened since i had to have the power steering pump replaced along with the steering rack. I spoke to my mechanic who said I should replace the outer tie rod on the front end drivers side. I did this and it quieted for a week or 2. Then it came back again. The creaking usually happens when I'm driving under 30 mph while cornering. It higher speeds it seems fine. Have you made any progress with yours?
