Anybody had trouble with theirs? My '98 4.0 has a water leak at the rear of the engine on the driver's side which appears to be coming from the head gasket. I've heard the 4.0s are notorious for this. I know water leaks in this area cannot be a good thing. How about some opinions on using "stop leak"? I'm going to try it before I tear into this engine. It's only got 94000 miles on it.
Hey flatliner! Sorry for your trouble. But since there is noticable coolant leaking from the head to the exterior of the engine, you are Not likely to encounter engine problems. I would not recommend using the "stop leak" for this situation, only because, if it doesn't work, you'll still have to pull the heads (yuk) and the stop leak bonds to parts fairly well.
I would seriously consider just changing the head gaskets at this point. I know it's a great amount of work, but with the new head gaskets and a system flush, you shouldn't encounter any problems in the future. Good luck buddy and we'll talk with you later....
