I've always changed the oil in my gas trucks but back when I owned my semis once in awhile I'd get lazy and have the repair shop change the oil if I had the truck in for some repair work and it was close to a service. That stopped after I had them forget to tighten the drain plug and oil filter one time.
I got really lucky because I drove the truck for a week and was underneath doing my weekly greasing and check over of the underbody and noticed an oily residue around the filter and plug that I'd never had in the past. I checked and both were loose
I had service departments cross thread mine more than once (one at Ford, one at Goodyear) and had no issues. I alway convert my drainplug to magnetic and keep a magnet on the oil filter. The photo shows the second oil change at 5 k. First one was at 2.5 k miles
Hey Bugzilla, got a link or a brand name for that plug? I like that one, I have one that has a very short stubby magnet which is difficult to clean.
