Does anyone know if my totally rusted out cab mounts can be repaired and replaced without taking the whole cab off? Would a good body shop be able to work that magic?
If you search around, you will find threads where people have replaced the cab mounts without removing the whole cab. Someone else may have one right off the top of there head.
If your floor pans are in pretty good shape and the cab mounts haven't completely collapsed you could use the slip on type of mounts like LMC sells. The ones like Dennis Carpenter sells are just like the originals and probably would require removing the cab. In either case it's not a simple easy job and any body shop that took it on would probably charge more than the cost of a rust free cab. The picture is about what it takes to put a set of original style cab mounts on.
Actually, on second look. the RH front mount and both end braces are rusted out. It makes me wonder how the cab is even staying on the truck at all.
if you look closely you'll see the "end braces" (aka floor or cab supports) don't have anything to do with holding the cab on the frame. The cab is bolted to the frame at the front two cab mounts (the new shiny metal in the post above) and ten two bolts at the very back of the cab, which rarely ever rust out to the point they need replaced. If only one front cab mount on your truck is hosed, then it's likely you still have the other 3 bolts securing it to the frame.
