I have a 2003 F350 SRW 7.3 that I was looking at putting spring packs and a adjustable trac bar on the front to level it because the front is about 2.5 lower than the back. But I got under the truck today and was wondering if anyone could tell me if the front leafs are supposed to sag that much and also if it looks like someone has already put spring packs and a adj trac bar on it? Thank you for any info!
oh ok thank you, do you think spring packs have been added or are the leafs stock? Are they supposed to sag like that?
The 2 actual springs on top are factory and it's not uncommon for them to sag like yours but the sketchy looking plate steel stacked under them are not and you need to remove them immediately. I would seriously not drive the truck till you get this fixed. I would recommend getting a new set of front leveling springs are yours are sagging and you want it leveled but if you need the truck in the meantime take the stacked steel out of there. They have those mini pack leveling kits which I'm not real a fan of either but these are DANGEROUS.
It looks like Someone added a make shift mini spring pack. There is probably a center bolt that runs through the entire assembly. You're still sitting two inches low even with those small pads underneath?
After I had my '02 F250 for a few years I had a spring shop add a thicker third leaf spring which raised it about an inch and made the truck ride better. I then added Bilstien 4600 shocks........rode even better.
A few years later I got a wild hair and decided to add a 2" mini spring pack sold by an outfit on ebay, each of these little springs/spacers whichever you want to call them were 1/2" thick so I only used 2 for 1" lift. Yes they were all drilled for a centering bolt which was included , worked out fine.
So is the consensus that I need to go ahead and replace the leaf springs and remove the mini packs? I have a big bumper on the front which i am sure is where the extra weight is coming from. as it sits right now I am still 2.5" low in the front. What should I put on there to fix my spring and non level problem?
Actually stock springs have a reverse arch to them, my 03 is the same way. I agree with previous post to remove the steel blocks under the Springs, it's sketchy at best. You can have aftermarket standard arch springs made or ordered but then y6mess with some trajectory of the front end.
Stock springs get a reverse arch when they wear out, brand new replacements will be a smile face. And if you have that bumper on the front plus the diesel id ONLY install Ford X-code front leaf springs PERIOD
These front springs are a tapered spring and have a very low arch. They won't have much of a smile on them because they aren't designed that way. Not arguing, just letting the OP know so he doesnt think something is wrong with new ones if he goes that route.
We have a X code replacement springs that has about 2" higher arch than factory. Same ride quality just a slightly higher ride height than what factory was able to offer.
