Hey all.
i got an old 85 302 HO sitting in my shop that is about to go for a rebuild. I wouldn't mind building it up to suit my 94 f150 that has a tired old 5.0 in it already. Will this swap be pretty straight forward? Anything I should know?
Thanks in advance!
So the blocks are essentially the same. i would like to get a slightly more aggressive cam for it, as long as it matches the HO block instead of the f150 block it should be good?
I will look into stroker kits as well but the budget for this isn't huge.
Thanks both of you!
I guess the engine was out of a Mustang or maybe a Lincoln? The blocks should be exactly the same externally. The cam choice depends on whether the block is already set up for a roller or flat tappet cam. You can put a roller cam in a flat tappet block but it is more expensive.
All '92+ 5.0 truck motors got roller cams so use the distributor from your truck.
All "94+ truck motors used the HO firing order.
This HO motor already has more cam than your truck motor did.
