There's hope for the health of the producing companies, but a few smarter friends of mine have done some analysis and it's not likely to ever require the number of employees it did years ago, or pay the ones remaining like it used to. It's also going to be much harder on service companies than it used to be. Their margins will be single digits even if "activity increases. I'd go back if I could, but so far, that hasn't worked, and I thought I had a pretty good reputation and resume. Oh well, I'm done crying about it.

The new reality may be that the tar sands never come back to the way they were even if we get the pipelines put in. It may be finally time that we start processing the oils out of tar sands and put all the petro chemicals useful form so that we can develop manufacturing processes, such as plastics and other petroleum based products.
