Need help with this 351m
It's a 1976 351m in a gran torino it sat 20 years guy I got it from said it was running he washed the engine started running rough so he parked it so I got it and first thing I did was pull the intake and heads let oil sit in cylinder engine looked clean but did find a lifter and a push rod sitting down in the valley push rod wasn't bent no signs of anything bad happening was almost like someone tore it down and left it sitting their when put back together so next day put it all back together got it to turn over would try to start was firing would be so close but wouldn't quit get their engine is getting gas getting fire good compression exhaust isn't plugged up i have no idea what could be causing this and really want to get this going so I can get the body fixed and painted

Without commas (,) and or periods (.) this is hard to read. 
But, did you check all of the other push rods to make sure that the rocker arms are tight? With loose rocker arms, valves won't get opened completely.
If timing is good, make sure firing order is correct. It's getting fuel, but is it flooded? Have you checked to see that you have a good spark?

Have you changed the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor button? Sounds like water got in there somewhere.
