Hello guys first post and probably not the last, I got a..
1957 f100
y-block 272
4160 four barrel holley carbs
3 speed manual
The truck idles good once warmed up and accelerates fine but once i slow down to go around a corner or stop i have to rev the engine so it doesn't die. no power braking and it has all new spark plugs, wires, coil, distributor. I dont have a tach set up yet so i don't know what RPM it is at. I am thinking its the fuel level in the float bowls? do i need to adjust both? i found this video online.
I think this was kind of a typical problem before all the engine controls came about, if the carb and things weren't tuned just so. Check that timing is straight, what's it at now? Float height plays a role in everything so make sure it's correct. Idle mixture setting is important for off idle acceleration and transition.
