say a quick prayer for my father

On Monday my father goes in for a triple, or quadruple bypass, he could use your prayers.

Yes, this coming Monday.

Doctor give pretty good odds, only 1 percent chance he could have a stroke during the surgery due to the stress his body will go through and 1 percent chance that putting him under may be the reason for death.

I am more concerned with the recovery period. He is so immobile now, that I can't imagine it getting better afterwards.

Uh... I want him to be forced to keep moving, because mom is going to have to put him in a nursing home if he can't get himself up and around.

It worked!

I worry, because with open chest surgery, a patient has to carry a pillow and squeeze it tight against the chest to prevent opening up the cuts. He has such violent sneezes and coughs that in the past he has broken a rib or two.

Yeah, he complains about being tired and its hard for him to move, so also lazy. A lot of it is he is not getting the proper blood supplied, so he is tired from that, but a lot of it, is he is way too overweight. At his age, I can't see him ever being able to get a handle on that.
My grandmother had a quadruple bypass about 35 years ago, and the doctor told her at that time, this will buy you another 10 years, but here it is about 35 years later, and she is just waiting to die, her blessed ol' heart is just pumping away.

They do really good things these days. Lots of folks go to a care facility after something like that. I will be thinking about you and your family. Wishing nothing but good things and a speedy recovery for your dad.
