need help!! idle issue

I have a1995 f-150 with a 351 windsor engine.. i am having idle issues with the shifting ang i wants to idle to fast at times.. it is an intermittant problem.. i replaced the IAC which seemed to help some, but the light still comes on aand off.. when the light is out it runs great ... but when the light is on, it shifts really hard. gives you whiplash almost.. i cant seem to find a vacuume leak. .. would appreciate any help.. thanx !!

What light comes on- check engine? Could be a lot of things. Retrieve the code(s) from the computer.

i think that it is a simple fix.. I've had 160+ ford trucks from 1948 to 1996 and never run into this problem.. i also do all of my own repairs.. but electrical crap really is hard for me to work with.. mechanical things i can fix or build. but im to old school for computer stuff..
