On the road 2 days now with my platinum f350 cc/sb 6.7L and managed 1300 miles towing the enclosed car trailer and lots of stuff. All I can say is WOW! The power on hills is crazy, set the cruise and let it do it's thing. No over reving like my f150. Down hill engine brake is amazing through the Rockies! Towing from Vancouver to New York so lots of variations. 11.8mpg so far on a truck that only had 1100 miles when I left and through some big passes.
One question, what was the outcome for someone's previous issue with the truck not charging trailer battery? Was it a fuse like my 09 f150? Might need to find a ford dealer along the way.
My first tow with the F350 DRW & 5er was a good experience too. At a truck stop, a guy follows me inside and asks me "you must be getting blown all over out there with this wind". My reply was "what wind?"

You know, I have had dually's in the past and I probably should have one now, but I love my longbed one ton SRW'S and I have been really impressed with my last two trucks. My 08 and now my 17. I pull a 43 foot toy hauler with a very tall (13'3") profile. But I have never been bothered by high crosswinds. Sure, I'll feel some of the gusts, but it has never been anything that I've even thought more than a couple of seconds about. It's really a non factor to me.
Nice to hear first tow impressions with these new trucks. I have been towing a 10k cargo trailer for 15 years with my old '97 7.3, it did just fine, but this new truck..........unreal
I did 400 miles towing my travel trailer this week. Not my "first" tow with the truck, but the first tow with the big top heavy sail behind me. Things I absolutely love:
Effortless pulling on the many grades on California coastal highways.
Adaptive cruise + engine brake is pure bliss.
Trailer camera and TPMS made parking and pre-trip easy.
So comfy for five passengers traveling for hours.
The speed limit for any vehicle towing in California is 55 mph. Keeping cruise set to 55 I averaged 14.1 mpg both going and coming home. Considering my V10 F250 did the same trip at about 6 mpg, yeah I'm quite happy.

My recollection that the circuit was tested without driving with the trailer and specifically pressing the brake pedal. I think charging will start once you press the brake pedal and move out of park.
