Keyed 12V Source????

Are there any 12v keyed sources either in the engine bay or in the cab????......gonna use it for a Airlift compressor.

If you have upfitter switches......look under the upfitter box under the hood (driver's side) for the bundle of stub cut wires. The BROWN wire is the one you want (it's keyed to switch).

I found some in the passenger side (interior) fuse panel...heated steering wheel was one of them that I (piggy backed off of for my dash cam).

Make sure you check the compressor's current spec, and then add 25%. For example, the Air Lift Model 16380 is rated for "Maximum 23 Amp draw". I'd use wire and a fuse both rated for at least 30A for a load like this.

Option Code 66S Upfitter switch 12V circuits 1-4 are load fused for 25A each and can be switched ON when the ignition is in RUN or START. Circuits 5 and 6 are load fused for 40A each and are user configurable for ON in RUN or START, or always ON.

yeah, there is a ground closer to the firewall iirc - couldn't have been far from the fuse panel (cause I don't recall it being an issue)

Bump....... Happy Fathers Day to all Fathers and expected fathers!!!!!!.....I dont have upfitter switches.........the 7200 wireless Airlift compressor is fused at 15 amps.....so i would need to find a keyed unfused 12v source .....preferably under the hood if there is one (either side of the truck engine bay).

One last question....surely the bed is grounded to the frame. ??????????????

That's a mini fuse holder. Our trucks use Micro2 fuses. I think that this is the correct one, but I won't know for sure until it arrives on Tuesday.

I found a bundle of blunt cut wires behind the passenger side kick panel under the dash labeled "PTO", I found a switched ignition wire in that bundle that I used for my mobile radio, 200 Watt Siren/Light Control box, and satellite radio power.

Correct, no upfitter switches. No, just found the bundle and probed the blunt wires with my test light hoping I would get lucky. Didn't think to take any photos... Was just happy I didn't have to tie into any wires already being used for something else...
