Does anyone know if there is a way to disable the perimeter lights when opening a door? I have a 2017 F-350 XLT Crew Cab and carry a slide-in camper. Every time I open a door, all the exterior lights come on and stay lit for 25 seconds. With the camper on, all its marker lights come on too. The door function switch in the headliner seems to affect only the interior lights.
So far I haven't run into battery problems, but it is a concern. I've thought about disconnecting the truck battery to preserve it, but with all the computerization in this truck, I don't want to do that. I've searched the forums and the owners manual, and come up dry. Any ideas?
MEBE, thanks. Ideally it would be an easily switchable function, like it used to be in my Explorer, simply by dialing down the interior lights to zero. I haven't seen it in the Forscan thread for SD's either.
Yes, I saw the Courtesy Lamp settings - and the "awaiting confirmation" status. I was really hoping there was a simple setting that I missed. Like why doesn't the door function switch actually deal with the door function? It only affects the interior lights. I have not used Forscan - I may try that path if the Police Blackout becomes an option. In the meantime I'm going to check to see if my camper's solar panels push any current back into the truck battery (doubtful). And my fall-back is to either manage the number of times I open the doors while camping, or start the truck every few days to recharge.
I see Dark Car/Silent Mode is available in Forscan. I enabled Silent Mode and successfully stopped all those amps from flying away every time I open a door. Excellent!

Did this only stop the exterior lamps or also the interior?
Interior too, unfortunately. Which I don't mind during the long days of summer, but It would be nice to have the auto-door interior lights these days. I'm thinking of making it a seasonal change - dark car during camping season only. Having gotten past the nervous hesitation of making Forscan changes, it's easy enough to do.

I also would like to switch back and forth. Any new info on the dark mode?.....An actual switch would be awesome!

Yes! If this could be setup on an upfitter switch, would be perfect. Don't mind all the lighting under normal circumstances, but a major annoyance while camping. Don't want to have to Forscan it back and forth.

Some computer guru should be able to make a code for that!!!
This is the "dark car mode" from the 2017 Super Duty spreadsheet. It should also say "turns off puddle lights". And not just when door is opened. Disables lights when unlock/approach as well.

There seems to be multiple confirmations that it works. It works for me as well. How do we notify the spreadsheet authors?
As others have noted, I'm probably only going to set this when heading off to the campgrounds.
