Skipping Motor
I am looking at a 95 F150 XLT with a 5.8L in it and the only problem i see with it is that the motor has a little skip or miss to it. The guy said he checked the compression and they are all good and consistant. It has 130k on it, and it otherwise runs good. If the timing and computer codes all check out Ok, what else is there to go over? The temp guage doesnt work. Could that sensor also be hooked into the computer and be sending a bad or no signal? Any suggestions appreciated.

check the spark pug gaps. and pull the distributor cap and check the contacts inside it. A buddy of mines 5.8 started doing this at 130,000 miles, turns out that it still had the factory spark plugs in it.

Thanks, but this guy supposedly bought it and it had champion plugs 3 num too cold and the guy was running it to work and back all thwe time and fouled plugs once in a while. So this guy that has it now put the autolites in it and changed the wires, he says. It could be the dist. cap or rotor, or even the timing. I'm going to check it out again tomorrow. Also, from running the cold plugs, this guy believes that it is really carbd up. How long would you need to run it with the right plugs to clean it out? Any other ideas, one friend said the cat could do it if it was clogged up.
