Check with the guys out of OK. there are about 4 or 5 different groups that build pole barns, they quoted me a 30X50X12, painted metal roof and walls, 2 12X10 openings, 1 man door, 2 windows, fully insulated, you can pour the concret after they finish, around 11k fully build, then another 2500 or more for concrete
or I can go steel turn key concrete, building, drains, all for 17K Hummmmmmmmm dunno.

All,
Imagine how much could be saved if the pole barn was built by yourself? What if the local utility company gave you telephone poles for free? A 3/12 truss at a 30' span should be around $75. Trusses fall 24" O.C. That's around $2000 for 25 trusses. Sheet it with 1/2" OSB and pick your roofing material from there; Metal, shingles, or tile? That's 1500 sq. ft. for around $4000. Concrete is another issue and a major expense.
Consider it,
KingFisher

I hear so many people talk about the hassle of building their own shop/garage. The biggest and most important factor is attitude (as with anything, right?). It is not that hard to put up a shop building or an add-on garage once you get past the paperwork (permits, etc).
I bet, seriously, that the FTE team could get together and put up a shop, with under-slab plumbing, for about $15 per square foot finished - turn key.

Big,
I would have to agree. But the commute would be a bitch!

I figured you'd be the first to reply, dfisher. I would also bet that you've put up plenty yourself.

Back in the '70's when I was young and spry we used to put up shop frames made from 2 7/8" drill stem in 2 days. That's a 40 x 50 with 16 ft peaks. Now I've learned better than to put up any building made from pipe, no matter what the wall thickness. We used the old corrugated tin for roofing and siding. Man have we come a long way with cosmetics!

I just built mine 40X75X16...

Did the forms and rebar myself, hired a company to pour($.40sq ft), bought a metal building kit($12000), included doors...Erected it myself...With a little help...Installed the lift...Finally got Electricity..

How about right at $20000??? It apraised right at $50000(Too much)

Not bad for 3000 sq ft...

Mach1 do you have a picture? That is about what I am looking for. You can e-mail it to me. Also where did you get it?

Only thing steering me away from steel is the fact that it will be close to the house and my wife asked that it look like a real building rather than an industrial site.
