Sorry I am new. I have a 99 7.3 f250.
330xxx miles on it.
Tonight driving home stoped at gas station turned it off went in and came out truck wouldn't start.
No wts no fuel pump noise. Did some looking found out that people where having this issue with the #30 and #24 fuses being blown.
Checked mine where fine found the diode and looked that up and put a jumper wire since I didn't have any diodes with me truck fired right up and ran perfectly.
My queston is can I bypass the diode ?
whats the issues if I do what are the risk. Thanks steven
It is the diode under the hood in the fuse box number 36 or 37.
If the diode is bad, it's possible the pcm relay is defective and shorted, as the diode provides power to the coil in the relay if I remember correctly.
Just to clarify, are u interchanging the word fuse and diode to describe the same type of device or are you talking about two different types of devices.
There is a pcm diode and there are fuses in that box.
Nope it is a diode.
Yes there is fuses and one diode in this box.
The recurch I've done tells me the diode is a one way current fuse to protect the pcm from back feed basically.
So I think in a emergency to jump it to get off the road or home is okay but to completely bypass it isn't a good idea.
Ford sells them in boxes of 2 for 6 bucks a pice so I have three boxes now.
ill post the part number when I get to them so everyone can have it
