Just bought a 1991 with 7.3 idi , got a CTS turbo on it. Can't find any info on these. The sticker on the air filter housing says CTS , Kamloops. Kamloops is a city in British Columbia, Canada. This is the second truck I have come across here in Canada with this turbo brand installed. There is a company in Vancouver called CTS selling turbos etc for European cars like VW and Audi. I contacted them and they got nothing to do with the Ford turbo.
Just wondering if anybody owns a truck with this turbo or has any info. Thinking parts availability and possible problems I should watch out for. Truck is not running at the moment. Bought it more as a donor and I might use the ZF 5. Truck shows only 198k Kilometers which translates to 123k miles

Looks similar but castings look different. Have to take the air filter off and check if there are any markings underneath. Thank you for the video link.
That is a turbo kit from Canada Turbo Systems in kamloops bc. It uses a Switzer turbo. Some ford dealers used to stock them before the banks took over the game.
To identify, The oil drain should be a hose that goes to a fitting in the side of the oil pan or the valley pan and the cdr will be moved rearward.
If you ever need a rebuild look for a big rig shop that does nothing but turbos. They can machine you anything...
Haven't seen one in ten plus years! Nice find, should make as much boost as any other banks/hypermax/ats kit.
I have one installed in an 1989 with a ZF. It came off an 89 with a E4OD. Did not need any parts other than the exhaust. Sourced any parts I needed from a local truck exhaust shop. Only issue is the cast down pipe metal seal rings into the turbo housing, never located them. It hasn't proved to be an issue. Without turning up the pump, have observed around 4 lb. of boost, EGT's in the 600 range.
CTS has disappeared, there is little to no information available. It is pretty straight forward however. I had the turbo gone through at a local injection shop, the best I could find is the Turbo is used in John Deere applications.
Bought the truck for $600 Cdn, spent about $500 to get it up and working. Not a bad deal.
Thank you for the information guys ! Good to hear there are still some of these turbos out there. I will work on this truck later in the fall and I'm sure I will have more questions at that time.
Hi there I know this is a older post but I just bought a 7.3 idi with the cts kit, was wondering hows its been or is working out for you? Any tips? Increase the boost? Also is the downpipe replaceable with a regular 3" aftermarket one?
On these older Threads, some times the guys have moved on.
Info is still good though.

I made a new downpipe from stock tubing and elbows and had some pieces custom bend by a muffler shop. I welded everything up and it turned out ok. The truck is running but still not finished so I can’t comment how the turbo is performing on the highway or while towing.
