For about 6 months the cruise control on our '09 F-250 has been intermittently failing. One time I'll set it and it will work fine, the next time I try to set it and it fails. No particular rhyme or reason to when it fails to set. Some of the tests that I did indicated it was the brake light switch on the brake pedal arm. It seemed to work perfectly a few times that I drove it after the installation but now it's back to working when it wants to.
I had a problem with the cruise on our '06 Ranger and it turned out to be the module. It acted a bit the same way in that it would set sometimes, other time not. I don't know if the two systems are similar or not.
Anyone have this intermittent situation? And if so what turned out to be the problem?
Have you read the codes? My cruise on my 08 was intermittent and it set a code....can't recall what code was now...but it turned out to be brake pressure switch on bottom of master cylinder....this is on a 6.4 diesel, of course i am assuming your truck is the same?

I haven't read the codes. Not sure if it threw a code but we'll be checking it out. Thanks.

You may have revealed the culprit since I already replaced the brake light switch in the cab and the only other possibility is the back up switch on the master cylinder. The next question is this: does the video correctly represent the switch and the remove and replace procedure as it would apply to our '09 F-250? If so this could be an easy fix.
