I have a 2008 6.4 f-250 FX4. the cruise did work at one time and then worked on and off and now not at all. I have changed the pressure switch at the master cylinder and still not fixed. Is there a brake pedal switch as well? does anyone have any suggestions?
I had the same exact problem and replacing the forward switch on the master cylinder promptly fixed it. It is a very easy process and the switch cost about $40. I believe that I used a 3/4 inch crowsfoot. Took about 5 minutes.
The part # is 3L3Z-9F924-AB. It is called the Cruise Control Cutout Switch and the link for the part at Ford is http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/Ca...F924-AB#Search.
This can be a confusing one as the pressure switch is right behind the cutout switch. A diagram will be with the link above.
It was $54.41, but Ford charged me $100.00 to replace it, and it's very simple to replace. I just didn't know what it was til they diagnosed it. Maybe you can replace yours and save a hundred bucks.
If what you replaced is the same part # as above, then there is a switch under the dash called the "Brake Deactivation Switch Connector" right above the accelerator pedal that can often go out and cause the cruise to think the brake pedal is being applied. Don't have the part # on that one but you can search the Ford parts page and find it.
disconnect & clean off the area, then reconnect before you replace anything. I had this problem about a year ago and someone on FTE recommended this. Saved me the money & eliminated the problem since that time.
does your truck have adjustable pedals?
I had this same issue. My truck was at the dealership for 7 days! They said they fixed it but cruise still didnt work when I got it back? so I had to figure it out myself. Check up over the brake pedal and make sure no wiring or wire looms are touching the brake pedal at all, if you have adjustable pedals make sure they clear all the way out and in. any pressure on the brake pedal arm will will not allow the cruise to be set, and/or cancel the cruise. This is what my issue was, the factory wire loom was touching the brake arm when pedal was adjusted out to a certain point.
