Have an 89 conversion van (302 fi) that I'd like to "get a little" more out of.
I've looked everywhere for cat back exhausts. Also -I live in rural Mich(no smog check) so I may even look at eliminating the cats with a "test pipe" just for evaluation purposes.
Anyhow, do any exhausts from pickups "retro fit" to this thing ? or - anyone know which companies specialize in exhausts for Ford vans ? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.
Also....what's with the BIG DROP into overdrive ?..........jeez.....she gets out onto the e-way great and then boooof...into OD and she's a slug......any trans mods ? trans fluid and filter were just changed by a reputable shop (102k miles)
Try Bassani, I believe several years of pickup exhausts were identical. Also, check your timing for 10 btc with spout unplugged maybe adjust it to 12 or so if it doesnt spark knock. try a k+n filter, and run full synthetic oil.May also change to a freer spinning clutch fan.I have run Aamco brand dextron 5 part synthetic tranny fluid in my tranny with success.11 quarts with torque convertor drained. Also make sure you are running a thermostat(I like 180) or your gas mileage will go to #####.
