I Knew a guy with an 83 f250. traded him an 84 302 thst didnt match up to my 83 f150 for his 83 300 ( which is what mone originaly had) i pulled valve cover and all looked fine. pulled oil pan and all looked fine. installed it in the truck and added 5 quarts of new motor oil. its been sitting 8 days now, and no oil registers on the dip stick. I have no idea whats going on, thoughts?

I'm assuming you ran the engine after installation?
The reason I ask is a fuel pump can spring a leak and fill the crankcase with fuel. If a lot of fuel gets in there, it will dilute the oil so badly it looks like no oil at all on the dipstick.
I had this happen with a straight 4 Jeep engine once. Also had the oil pressure light flickering because the oil was now so thin. I thought I had lost all oil somehow, and added several quarts but nothing registered. Turns out I was looking at a dipstick showing a severely overfilled crankcase, but mostly fuel, so it was hard to see.
