In dash speaker question

So I'm going to be installing a single DIN sterio and installing door speakers, rear speakers and an all ib one amp / sub. Is there any way to keep the dash speaker connected properly if I replaced that as well? Or is that speaker just a loss by doing the others and not replace it and leave it disconnected? Thanks.

Unless you're doing 5.1 surround sound, you don't need the dash speaker, although I guess you could put a small sub in there, and not have to lose storage space behind and under the seat.

That's what I was figuring. A sub won't fit in that space. I'll just disconnect it.

Not much room back in there to work, I would not worry about it. That cab will be booming enough with the other stuff.

I just ran two speakers to each door. 6" lowers and 4.5" uppers. It's plenty loud enough for me!

I wouldn't worry about the in-dash speaker. I think it was only good for the monoaural radio or for the CB, anyway

There are some companies out there that sell a dual, all in one L and R speaker that mounts in the stock speaker location.

I can see that when there are no other options, but Pink Floyd is never gonna sound right without stereo separation!

Has anyone found a straight replacement for the dash speaker in these trucks? I'm not going crazy with the audio system and have just used 5" kickers in the doors with a retro sound radio. Would like to round out the system and fill this hole. Anyone done this? Any help appreciated!

Leave em sit

Put in this 8 track over the summer, left the dash speakers where they sit.... put in new door speakers and its classic country happiness...

If you want to go modern single din stereo, search "1973 ford truck stereo bracket" on eBay

Years ago when I was into car audio, I would wire up the dash speaker as a center channel. It really improves the sound stage. Just ignore the whole + and - label for the center speaker. You just hook up one wire to the + of the left channel and the other to the + of the right channel. It doesn't really matter which wire goes to which side. It looks weird but it works. It blends the left and right sound and gives you a cheap surround sound kind of experience.

This is real efficient when you use an L pad to control the volume to the center speaker. It can really make the sound stand out in a subtle way. Another aspect to consider is to use the center speaker for AM radio only. With today's technology, there are complete hideaway sound systems that are available that one could run in our dents.

As stated above, use one of these dual speakers. I did one in my truck, and combined with 2 door speakers it sounds as good as I need it to.
